Dismissal Procedures

Please do not park in the fire lane at any time.
Even if you plan to stop for just a moment, please plan ahead and avoid using the fire lane. Keeping this area clear is essential for the safety of all students, staff, and emergency responders.

Make sure all children are properly secured in vehicles.
Please ensure that children are safely buckled in with the appropriate seatbelt or car seat before leaving school. JBER Military Police periodically conduct safety checks near our school and may stop vehicles if children are not properly restrained.

Thank you for your patience during carline.
We know pickup can sometimes take a little longer than anyone would like. Our students are young, and it takes time for them to safely transition from the building to their vehicles. Whether you are walking up to pick up your child or waiting in the carline, we appreciate your patience and kindness. Our shared goal is to get every child home safely and efficiently.

End of the School Day

School is dismissed at 2:30 PM Monday through Friday.

Early Pick-Up

If you need to pick up your child before dismissal, please call or arrive before 2:00 PM whenever possible.

The time between 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM is very busy as we prepare for dismissal. Last-minute changes can be difficult to communicate and may delay your child's release. Thank you for helping us by planning ahead whenever possible.

School Age Program (SAP)

At 2:25 PM, students who attend the School Age Program (SAP) are sent to the front office to wait for transportation.

If your child's SAP plans change for the day, please contact SAP directly. Students will not be dismissed from their regular SAP plans until staff have confirmed the change with a parent or guardian.

Student Safety at Dismissal

We have staff members throughout the building and hallways to help students safely get to their dismissal locations, whether they are:

• Walking home
• Going to SAP
• Picking up a younger sibling
• Waiting for carline pick-up

Walkers

Grades 3–5 Walking Home Independently

Students in grades 3–5 who are not picking up a younger sibling should exit through the intermediate wing and walk directly home.

Grades 3–5 Picking Up a Younger Sibling

Students in grades 3–5 who are picking up a younger sibling should walk around to the primary wing and join the pick-up line near the Pre-K playground.

This is the same line used by parents. Students and parents will wait there while staff contact the younger student's classroom for dismissal.

Carline Pick-Up

Students in Grades 3–5

Students who are picked up in the carline will wait in their youngest sibling's classroom until called.

Students without siblings will wait in their assigned primary buddy classroom. Teachers will share this information with families and students.

Students in Grades K–2

Students will wait in their youngest sibling's classroom, or their own classroom if they do not have siblings at school, until they are called for carline pick-up.

All Car Riders

All car riders, including kindergarten students, will exit through the front office doors and proceed to the carline area. This allows staff to safely supervise students as they connect with their families.

Important Reminder for Young Students

For safety reasons, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students may not walk home alone.

These students must be picked up by:

• A parent or guardian, or
• An approved older sibling
• Or have a signed permission slip in the front office with Miss Emeline and Miss Amanda to walk home alone (this is not recommended but we understand this is necessary for some families).

Pre-K families will receive specific dismissal procedures directly from their teachers.
